HLS 3L Paul Lee received an ILSP travel grant to fund his January-term research on Islamic securities regulation in Dubai. Lee has held several internships in the field and recently led a team of students writing a report on waqf for HLS’s Law and International Development Society. ILSP offers a yearly travel grant up to $1,000 to Harvard Law School students pursuing research trips related to work on or the study of Islamic law. The grants are awarded on a competitive basis, and we consider all projects associated with Islamic Law or treating the legal systems of Muslim countries, for both independent research and internships. Past winners have researched such diverse topics as the legal rights of Muslim women in rural communities in India, Moroccan criminal procedure, and constitutional protections of religious minorities in Egypt.
