Paul Beran Joins SHARIAsource as Executive Director

Dr. Paul Beran has joined the Harvard Law School’s Islamic Legal Studies Program as Executive Director of SHARIAsource—the online platform designed to provide content and context on Islamic law. Beran comes to ILSP from the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study, where he was the Associate Director of Academic Ventures. Prior to his work at Radcliffe, Beran was Director of the Outreach Center at the Center for Middle Eastern Studies at Harvard. Read More

Kristen Stilt Wins Prize for Journal Article on “Contextualizing Constitutional Islam”

ILSP Director Kristen Stilt was recently awarded the 2016 I•CON Prize for the most outstanding article published in Volume 13 of the International Journal of Constitutional Law. I•CON ‘s Board of Editors and the Scientific Advisory Board awarded Stilt the prize for her article, “Contextualizing Constitutional Islam: The Malayan Experience.” The article proposes a contextual approach to constitutional Islam and uses it to examine the making of the Federation of Malaya independence Constitution of 1957.
